Core Values

-          Inclusive - VHVnow serves any and all veterans and adult family members – regardless of age, gender, military status, discharge status, race, color, national origin (ancestry), religion (creed), disability, marital status, sexual orientation and gender expression, political affiliation, or geography in any of its activities or operations. This includes combat and non-combat veterans of all wars, and those who served during non-conflict eras.

 -         Accessible - All programs are free to veterans and family members.

-          Safe - VHVnow’s Center is alcohol free, drug free and weapon free.

-          Welcoming -The atmosphere at the Center is welcoming and the ambience is homey. Clients and volunteers face a minimum of red-tape.

-          Healing - VHVnow’s purpose is to enhance the healing of veterans and family members.

 -          Volunteer-based - VHVnow programs are largely provided by volunteers and rely on extensive peer support. This is based on the experience that volunteering helps the volunteer and the client heal, grow and thrive.

 -          Builds community – VHVnow programs and the drop-in Center exist to build a caring community among veterans, family members, volunteers and staff members.

 -          State – of- the –art -Staff and board protocols are state-of-the art, even though the atmosphere is casual for clients and volunteers.

 -          Organic -All programs are based on requests from clients and volunteers and are researched to avoid duplication and to identify best practices when they exist.  If no best practices exist, VHVnow develops promising practices, assesses internal capacity to manage the program and then, if appropriate, initiates the program.

 -          Apolitical – VHVnow is completely apolitical in its programs, policies and service delivery.
